Why the name you ask?
Mignon is a French name, meaning 'cute'.  Gateaux in french means 'Cakes'.

My mother's family descended from two brother's, who fled Lille (France) in 1685 and came to South Africa  - The Du Toit's.

It's no coincidence that my heritage influenced my love for cakes and of course, luxury.

MEET PASTRY CHEF MIGNON STRYDOM

As you can probably guess, I'm the Mignon behind GateauxMignon.

 

I'm a qualified Pastry Chef, Small business owner, Fitness fanatic, LSE Business Student and by the looks of it, a budding workaholic..

I attended Culinary School to pursue my love of Patisserie and worked in a Fine dining restaurant while frantically trying to keep GateauxMignon alive. It was here where my passion truly flourished, as I was given a platform to express and experiment with my creative side.

 

I aspire to share my knowledge with anyone who gets as excited as I do simply thinking about baking. 

 

Join me as I give away all my favourite recipes, industry secrets, tips and techniques to take your bakes to the next level. If you're lucky, I'll even throw in some behind the scenes into my crazy life as I struggle to juggle fitness and patisserie!
